We have chosen to give 50% of donations to Childhope because our research has found that all the money raised will go direct to helping some of the worlds most at risk children.
ChildHope is an international children's charity committed to securing social justice for children and young people in Africa, Asia and South America. It currently helps 31,000 children worldwide.
Your donation will help in:
- Supporting street children in India, Bangladesh, Kenya and Tanzania
- Reducing hazardous child labour and improving access to education in Peru and India
- Stopping the exploitation of girls in Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Peru
- Improving juvenile justice in Brazil and Bangladesh
- Reconciling children with their families in Sierra Leone
- Assisting children including orphans affected by HIV and AIDS in Ethiopia and Uganda
- Reducing abuse in schools in Uganda
For the other half of our fundraising we will be donating to the charity RAFT. You may not be aware of the charity but I’m sure you have all heard of skin cancer. Over a hundred thousand cases of skin cancer are reported in the UK alone, and over the past 25 years malignant melanoma cancer has risen quicker than any other cancer. RAFT is a small local charity working from Mount Vernon hospital, and one of its main projects is researching ways of combating this terrible disease.
RAFT stands for the Restoration of Appearance and Function Trust, carrying out pioneering research into practical and affordable ways to save and repair skin- helping the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who are affected by skin disfiguring illnesses and damage such as burns, wounds, limb amputations and skin cancer. You’re generous donations are absolutely essential to allow their Smart Matrix to go to clinical trial and get to the thousands of patients who desperately need it. Their scientists have developed the Smart Matrix, an artificial skin, to be used on patients suffering from extensive skin burns on the body.
